How to Get a VHS Camera Connected to a Computer Using AV Out
Old VHS camcorders use a full-size video cassette to store recordings. With a simple composite AV cable connection to a converter box that plugs into your PC with a USB cable, you can convert the analog signal on the video cassette tape into digital format and store it on your computer. You can view video transferred in this manner on the computer, edit it by using digital software tools or burn it to a DVD if your computer is equipped with a disc writer. First, however, you must connect the camcorder to the computer.

Tips & Warnings
Use the camcorder's DC adapter when dubbing tapes to the computer. If the camcorder battery pack should die during a dubbing session, this will effectively ruin the project.
