What Is a Juvenile Wardship Petition in California?
In California, children under 18 can become wards of the state under circumstances, such as when they commit crimes and are incarcerated. Under state law, juvenile wards can have legal guardians appointed to them through the state juvenile court. To achieve guardianship, adults must go through a legal process that includes submission of Form JV-600, which is also known as a Juvenile Wardship Petition.
